every thousand years, when the leaders of the new world choose their heirs to rule the realm of magic, more often than not it creates arguments, fights and a split in families. however, this time the exchange of hierarchy is threatened with a war among the inhabitants when there is a dispute over who is the biological child really belongs to. this child is one of the characters in a story of its own and walks the journey they must overcome to gain a right of passage into the new world. this person is not who you think they might be!

other books, nick's story, joel's story, ava's story, justin's story etc are all about their individual journeys and challenges in the real world that they need to navigate through so they can gain the experience, understanding and self-empowerment to fulfil their roles in the new world if they choose to take up the invitation.

let's go to nick's story. when he learns that both of his parents are also part of the new world, he begins to see his familiar world differently. he also realises that people are not always whom they seem to be and finds that childhood is never, ever as it seems.

when nick is invited to join the new world in a specific role that he has trained for, he is also presented with his own magic powers are and his purpose for his challenges.
